A full scan of this historically important early Colt manual before the AR-15 in .223 caliber was produced for the civilian market.  The Armalite Company's AR-15 military rifle rights were sold to Colt in 1959.  Colt produced this 'Contractor's' manual the same year and described the AR-15 in .223 caliber as a 'Military Rifle'. 

A rare 22 page document with diagrams in the development of the AR-15/M16 rifle.
