Frequently new Heddon collectors will be confused by the early Heddon color 'yellow' or 'rainbow' since there are no color charts which clearly feature these two colors. The other problem is the varnish may have discolored over the years to distort the actual colors. Shown below, are examples of old yellow (105), which is really a dark greenish/brown back with a deep yellow belly. Old rainbow (101) has a white belly and pinkish sides with a dark green back. The key is the color of the belly. New yellow, c.1909 and later, is solid yellow, and new rainbow is much more vivid. |
