The Colt Collector's Association publishes the Rampant Colt Magazine. Posted here are issues in the collection of CCA member Michael Echols.
Various covers of the Rampant Colt Magazine are used throughout this website with the permission of photographer Paul M. Goodwin.
A back issue list of the earliest Rampant Colt magazines is shown below for 1981 to 1997. This personal collection starts in 1991 because the later content is more relative to this private collection.
Detailed topics are provided for each magazine shown from this collection where possible. |

Observations in 2023 by the owner of this collection of Rampant Colt Magazines:
Prior to 2000, the principle article topics in these magazines were those dealing with pre-1900 Single Action revolvers, especially Civil War, Western, engraved, or an exception to the norm. Many of the articles are related to 'newly discovered or undocumented' treasure finds by members.
As new collectors have been progressively priced-out of the pre-1900 part of the hobby, more post-1900 Colt material is being covered by the contributing CCA member authors.
98% of this personal Rampant Colt Magazine collection was purchased in two single-lot auctions in 2023. They are all in 'new' condition and posted here for personal and general Colt collector use because the images and content is not published by the CCA as of 2023.
Kudos to the magnificent photography and production of Paul M. Goodwin, as his photographic and display art is the main driving force of the magazine for the past ten years and today (2023). Without Goodwin's considerable talent, this magazine would most likely have gone by the wayside as the CCA membership aged and nothing was being done to educate or encourage younger members. Goodwin's efforts show a definitive change in direction since his involvement with the production of the magazine.
The 'Content' column will give you a brief description of the topics. Unfortunately, the CCA has not digitally cataloged the content of the magazines and as far as I know the content is not searchable for research purposes. This is a project that needs to be done for future generations of collectors as most of the current members with in-depth knowledge are of a certain age and may not be with us much longer. Sad, but true.
There is a good discussion of the Cover image subject on all post Fall-1993 Content pages. |
The comments under the 'Date' column are my
notes on post-1991 articles of personal interest
The Rampant Colt Magazine is a production of the Colt Collectors Assn.
